The gently rolling sea of vines of the Palatinate, which stretches along the German Wine Route, begins just a few kilometres from Speyer. Grapes grow here in a mild climate and on fertile soils, producing top-quality wines - from fresh Riesling to velvety Pinot Noir. Over 80 grape varieties are grown in the Palatinate and the region is one of the largest wine-growing areas in Germany.

What makes Palatinate wine so special? It is the combination of centuries-old winegrowing tradition, modern cellar art and the warm Palatinate way of life. Guests can enjoy Palatinate wines in rustic wine taverns, stylish wine bars and at numerous wine festivals - often in direct dialogue with the winegrowers themselves.
